Beyond Birthdays 9/22/2012 09:20:00 AM

Murphy's Law: "If anything can go wrong, it will..."

This year's birthday turned out to be a comedy of errors and mishaps, beginning with people thinking my birth anniversary was the day before and ending with a three day last song syndrome from the only song in the world I dislike which can induce an extended LSS for me.

My Half-Eaten Birthday Cake ;-)

And yet, there is more to this world than having the prefect birthday:
It's to be surrounded by people who love you just because you are you.
It's staying at a wonderfully conducive place for rest (which is a change of occupation from what you are usually up to the rest of the year).
It's to be able to sleep well and eat well.
It's to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered specially for you and your intentions.
It's coincidentally attending a First Friday Benediction, when you had just intended to go on a pilgrimage to a church dedicated to Our Lady.

The list just gives me the reasons why my birthday was the best!

And now that my two week hiatus with a birthday is done, I can get back to all the work that awaits me, refreshed and with a more optimistic outlook.

Birthday Cross 9/11/2011 06:05:00 PM

For about a decade now (and without fail), I have realized that our Lord, in his loving providence, and out of special love for me, would send me, every year sometime around my birthday, what I now refer to as my "Birthday Cross".
It is oftentimes a small thing, only bearing value and meaning to myself, but at times, also some tragic or seemingly catastrophic event.
I do know that He uses it in order to teach me the reason behind suffering and slowly lead me up the path to my heavenly home.
I also try to be grateful for His gift by trying to offer it up, though it may be hard, in order to further some apostolic plan.
It is perhaps no coincidence that I received the Sacrament of Baptism on the 14th of September, seven days after I was born...

Turning 30 9/04/2010 05:51:00 PM

Another
Milestone to remember
Another
Page in my book
Another
Turn of the road
One more
Event we can toast
One more
Reason to celebrate
Even if
Mistakes have been made
Even if
I have my ups and downs
I am
Looking forward to tomorrow
I bear much
Hope for things to come
Each day
Serves as a brand new start
I thank
The Highest Power
I thank
Those whom I love
I forgive
Those who have hurt me
I forget
All those past hurts
The day
That I turn 30

Staying Single 8/05/2007 05:41:00 PM

Here's another transferred entry from my old blog, dated September 8, 2005.

* --- * --- * --- * --- * --- * --- * --- * --- *

I guess people can't seem to understand my decision to live my life in accordance to the way I know God wants me to. I still find it funny how some of my female classmates in med school who have never been in a relationship before would start lamenting about their biological clock running off. I shall never have that problem because I'm happy with the way my life is running. My silver birthday went well, yesterday, thank you very much. I was surrounded with family and friends, I had my tuna carbonara, a butter-butter birthday cake, ice cream, beehive cupcakes, a homemade card and a rose from friends I had recently met. I felt loved. Yes, you can feel love without having to have a guy around you or going out on a date. People sometimes forget that fact. I thank God for coming into my life in a special way a little over four years ago and making me feel his Love.
